The Panic Room Gravesend: The Panic Room

Kicking off our second day of escaping at The Panic Room, we took on the company’s namesake room…

“The Panic Room is the latest version of our original hit room that started it all!  You are a team of investigators sent to a crazed conspiracy theorists mansion where he has been found dead. He found out something he shouldn’t have and clearly someone wanted to cover it up and hide it. In the murderers haste he couldn’t find the classified documents.

It is now your job to solve the trail of puzzles, challenges and riddles left by the conspiracy theorist. You must find the files, the exit code and escape before the 60 minutes is up. Get caught at the mansion and the murder is sure to be blamed on you. 

Just remember…Don’t Panic!”

The theming in the first part of the game isn’t anything exciting – it’s just a spot on living area and office of a conspiracy theorist, and is littered with lots of books and props that perfectly suit the story. The latter stages of the game is where things really pick up with some more stand out decoration.

It’s not that exciting a theme or story, especially amongst the other games at the Panic Room, but the game itself is fantastic. Our experience from the first five games we played here is that the rooms all have some high quality, unique puzzles, and this room had a great range of innovative tasks, and so many things we hadn’t seen before.

One thing did go a bit wrong though with a mag lock popping open too soon, and we went on to do the long, skill based task that should have activated it, which is completely fair, as it meant we could experience everything. As errors go, this one barely affected the game. Everything else worked perfectly, and it was refreshing to see a puzzle that uses a magnet that was strong enough to efficiently complete the task.

There were some great little hiding spaces in this room, and as someone who can always spot a secret door a mile off, I was very pleasantly surprised…

Overall, a great game all round, that involved us running everywhere and having a desperate last dash panic to escape, despite having several minutes left. Play this one while you still can – it shuts on 4th June!
